C&C may be "a very powerful idea that we are moving remorseless towards" and there is a lot of support for it, but "Doing the Maths" of Contraction & Convergence [C&C] demonstrates results that are inexorable when the Carbon Budget Analysis Tool [CBAT] is used.

As emissions C&C is "inevitably required' to achieve compliance with the objective of the UNFCCC, doing the maths is also inevitably required. CBAT addresses this key aspect and is already highly recommended for precisely this.

Though CBAT as a whole in 4 Domains is not yet complete, many sets of 'Carbon Budgets' have been generated in CBAT so far.
Here are a few that give a feel for the accuracy, versatility and communication power of this model: -

Betts Science-Consensus [Low = 140 Gt C] IGBP
Betts Science-Consensus [Medium = 250 Gt C]
Betts Science-Consensus [High 410 gt C]

IGBP/IPCC [Low = 250 Gt C] Cuts Immediate
IGBP/IPCC [Medium = 250 Gt C] Cuts Delayed
IGBP/IPCC [High = 250 Gt C] Cuts Never

Betts Science-Consensus [Low = 140 Gt C]
McKibben [Medium = 154 Gt C]
Hansen [High = 171 Gt C]

. . . and of course the original CBAT framed around the UK Climate Act.

Though its the 'visible trend-analysis' with the 'CARBON BUDGET ANALYSIS TOOL' that tells you everything that you need to know, all CBAT 'DOMAINS' will also have on/off user-interactive-values-tables that respond to choices made with the: -

  1. 'scenario'
  2. 'budget' [LOW MEDIUM HIGH] and
  3. choices with vertical and horizontal sliders

that will look something like these tables. Please note that for the moment the numbers entered in the tables below are only place-holders or 'dummies' and are not yet interacting with any dynamic CBAT scenario-set in: -
